Featuring Pikilyi Jukurrpa artwork by an Australian Aboriginal artist, this beautiful pot holder shares the story of Pikilyi, an important natural spring and waterhole at Mt Doreen Station in the Northern Territory. According to Warlpiri tradition, Pikilyi is home to two Rainbow Serpents, a husband and wife, who are the kirda (traditional owners) of this Country.
The female Rainbow Serpent belonged to the Napanangka skin group and the male Rainbow Serpent to the Japangardi skin group, a relationship considered taboo in Warlpiri culture. Their story remains deeply connected to this significant place and forms part of an important Dreaming narrative.
Made from 100% cotton, this practical kitchen accessory combines everyday functionality with authentic Indigenous Australian art and storytelling.
