Gold-plated pendant necklace inspired by a pair of 4th century BC ancient Greek earrings.
Crafted from 24 carat gold-plated brass, this stylish necklace ends a Hercules marriage knot, finished with hanging pendants featuring palmettes, swirls and beaded designs. The pendants are based on ancient Greek earrings which date to 400-350 BC, and are now housed in the British Museum.
The Hercules (Herakles) marriage knot is a strong knot of intertwined ropes. The knot is found as a healing charm in ancient Egypt, but is best known for its use in ancient Greece and Rome as a protective amulet, and most notably as a wedding symbol.
A gorgeous gift for a loved one.
